Traditional parenting.

We have decided to do what all good parents do when their child is afraid of dogs. That's right, get a dog.

We have been to look at dogs at dog shelters but they seem to be mainly Staffordshire Bull terriers. Not my kind of dog. Alternatively the dogs available are Rottweilers - too big for our house and also not my kind of thing.

We have looked at books about dogs. The youngest is pretty certain she knows what she wants. We are going to go to Discover Dogs to meet some breeds. I have been in touch with a breeder, so fingers crossed we will soon have the patter of 4 little feet.

Great logic - you sound like my kind of gal!! Do have a look at Deerhounds. We had 2of them when Emily and No. 1 son were frowing up an they were brilliant. Big dogs but soft . no long long walks neccessarily needed as they like to charge about for 25 seconds round a field the collapse. ha ha. good luck and let me knmow how you get on.

We got a Fox Terrier when our girls were 4 and 8 and the 4 year old would run away screaming every time the 12 week old dog looked at her... lol Now 9 years later I don't think the now 13 year old can remember the time without a dog!
